Learn how to make your home a bit more inviting to the opposite sex and perhaps improve your dating performance.

Have you ever been on a date and felt everything was going well until you saw her home? Suddenly your Miss Right has become a six year old girl with pink ruffles and stuffed animals everywhere, and on top of that, she’s a fire waiting to happen with all those candles everywhere. Unfortunately, women have exactly the same feelings when they walk in to your ode to Star Wars or the latest bikini model of the month.

If you’re serious about finding that special someone for your life, then you’ve got to live like an adult who is serious about themselves and about having a future with someone. This does not mean that you have to entirely lose your personality, but it does mean some redecorating may be necessary. If done correctly, you may even get to keep some of your treasured mementos on display, but not out for play.

Take note: women in general, are instantly turned off by men who have posters of naked women anywhere in their homes, and the scantily clad bikini models really aren’t any different. In fact, if it’s a poster, it had better be frame-worthy or it’s time to say good-bye. Also, toys (including action figures) are not very attractive to women who are looking to find a man.

But don’t despair, you can keep your prized possessions; just find a better way to display them. Women like to play too, but they prefer this to be compartmentalized and not an overwhelming aspect of your life. How about creating a game room in your house where you display your Star Wars treasures and treat them not as play toys, but as collectibles? Decorate the room with things that spoke to you as a child, frame pictures of favorite video games or board games. Put up a trophy cabinet and show off your athletic prowess. This is also an excellent place for your big screen television and other technical gadgets.

Another huge complaint women have about men is they’re slobs. This is obviously a generalization, but it happens enough that every guy should take a moment to double-check his living quarters. Are your clothes put away? Is there an odor? Is the bathroom clean and fully stocked?

The kitchen is generally a place where people congregate, and they tend to make assumptions about you based on your kitchen. Cleanliness is more important here than anywhere else. You’ll also want to be well stocked with a variety of treats and beverages that make your guest feel they were expected and are welcome.

Remember to eliminate obvious tokens of past relationships, especially photos. And have a comfortable place for you and your guest to sit, no blow-up furniture or bean bags. Women like men who have adult furniture as it represents a sense of stability that futons and card tables or TV trays just can’t express.

If you want to create a successful dating decorating scheme try to keep your home gender neutral in the general décor and let your personality show through in small ways, rather than overwhelming waves of childhoods past.
